Flip Daily
Now running FSRS-6 — the latest memory algorithm

Remember everything, ten minutes a day.

Flip Daily is a calmer kind of flashcard app. Build your own decks, or clone one from Discover. A modern spaced-repetition algorithm schedules each card for the moment you're about to forget it — so a short daily session is enough.

The science

Built on FSRS-6 — the algorithm that beats the one Anki shipped with for thirty years.

Spaced repetition works because your brain forgets on a predictable curve. The trick is to review each card right before you'd forget it. FSRS-6 uses a three-part memory model — difficulty, stability, retrievability — that learns from your reviews to pick the perfect moment for each card. Empirically: 20–30% fewer reviews than the classic SM-2 algorithm, for the same recall.

The old way

Fixed intervals, fixed multipliers

One ease factor per card. Get it wrong, ease drops. Get it right, interval times 2.5. Doesn't adapt to how you forget.

What Flip Daily uses

Predicts your forgetting curve, then aims at it

Three-parameter memory model trained on millions of real reviews. You set a target retention (say, 90%) and it schedules to that line.

target: 90% retention
Reviews to retain 100 cards / month ~310

FSRS is open-source. The same algorithm powers Anki's recommended scheduler today — Flip Daily ships it as the default, properly tuned, with no add-on dance.

Fork without forking your progress

Clone someone's deck, edit cards, and your review history stays yours — even if the original gets updated.

Rated by people who actually used it

Ratings only count after a learner has reviewed at least 50 cards. The signal is what worked, not what looked good.

Updates flow downstream — when you want them

When the original author fixes a typo or adds cards, you'll see the diff and choose what to pull in.

Honest questions

Frequently asked, plainly answered.

Is this just another Anki clone?

No. Flip Daily uses the same FSRS scheduler that Anki recommends today, but everything else is rebuilt: a single review queue across decks, mobile-quality apps on every platform (no $25 paywall), proper deck discovery, and a UI you do not need to "learn" first. If you love Anki's power, you can import your collection and keep working — just nicer.

How is FSRS different from Anki's default scheduler?

Anki shipped with SM-2, an algorithm from 1987 that uses one ease factor per card. FSRS uses three parameters (difficulty, stability, retrievability) trained on real-world review data, so it predicts when you'll forget each specific card instead of guessing with multipliers. Same retention, ~20–30% fewer reviews. Anki added FSRS as an opt-in scheduler in 2023; Flip Daily ships it tuned and on by default.

Can I import my Anki collection?

Yes — drop an .apkg (or whole collection .colpkg) file in. Cards, media, scheduling history, and tags all come over. Your existing FSRS parameters are preserved if you had them; otherwise we re-optimise from your review log.

What happens if I miss a few days?

Nothing punitive. The queue tells you you have more reviews waiting; FSRS reschedules cards based on how long they've actually been sitting. No streak shame, no scary number going up. We track sessions, not virtue.

Is my data mine?

Yes. Export your full collection (cards, reviews, history) as JSON or .apkg anytime. We never sell user data. Open formats in, open formats out.

Who is behind Flip Daily?

A small team that has spent the better part of a decade as Anki users — and got tired of explaining the add-on dance to friends who wanted in. We're building the version we wanted.
